[trans] Golden Stage Super Junior M Traditional Crafts Challenge

P: Super Junior M Perfection today we’re going to take a look at the beauty of Taiwan.
F: Then what are we going to challenge them with?
T: What is it?
P: Traditional folk art.
T: Not only the traditional folk art but we are also going to look at their learning abilities and creativity and see how they are able to unify it with our traditional crafts.
P: Today we are still going to split them into two groups. The last time it was F’s team that won. This time we will start on a clean slate and split the groups differently.
F: You shall introduce your members first.
T: I tell you, our members are Zhoumi, Eunhyuk and Ryeowook.
F: Do you want to know our members. Our members are Sungmin, Kyuhyun and Henry.
P: So we are going to start the first round.
T: In the first round, we are going to test to see who is the best at blowing candy.
P:Today we have invited one of the 5 remaining candy blower professionals [TSK I KNOW IT SOUNDS FUNNY STOP LAUGHING I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO CALL THEM XD] Lets welcome Teacher Xu Ya Tang!
At the old fashioned Lu Gang Province other than the famous Tian Hou Gong, and everyone’s favourite traditional snacks, in the old small streets there is a little stall that causes people to stop in their tracks. What is going on? He is Xu Ya Tang the professional who keeps to the traditional way of blowing candies. Every time Teacher Xu had prepared the malt candy in his hands, it never fails to attract the attention of tourists. Today Teacher Xu is going to introduce this skill of his to everyone.
F: Teacher are you going to show it to us? Heard that this is a set.
Xu: I guess so, Because when we blow the candy we can either use molds or sculpt them ourselves. Our medium is edible malt candy.
F: All can be eaten. This set can be called the 12 zodiac signs.
T: I want to know what is this in the 12 zodiac signs *its an apple*
Xu: That is a hand sculpted apple.
T: This is the apple that the snake here likes to eat…[not funny]
P: Stop bullying the Teacher. Teacher, this candy blowing tradition, what is the origin? Is it just candy for children?
Xu: In the past it was used as decor in the royal court.
P:So you see when it is done it looks clear and shiny like jade right?
F: So look at this all are unique. The snake looks like a snake and not like a dragon. Is there a dragon?
P: Here it is. and this is the snake. So this is made using a mold. Well then Teacher, what are the techniques for blowing this candy? Because Super Junior M is going to take up this challenge later.
F: Should we get the Teacher to come demonstrate?
P: Could you?
Xu: Sure.
Xu: The simple one is the gourd.[Looks like an 8 shape]
T: Is there a need for a mold for the gourd?
Xu: No need. You can see it grow slowly like this.
F: Eh? What powder is that?
Xu: It is flour. So that it doesn’t stick to your hands.

ZM: I am the exact opposite of that…actually yeah… because when singing we train our lung capacity.
*ZM starts blowing*

ZM: WHAT IS THIS?!
Zhoumi blew with all his might but there isn’t a gourd but a kidney [HOMG LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL] all the other members were stunned.
T: It is not easy for him to blow a kidney out of our gourd candy. Give him a round of applause.
*Ryeowook’s thought bubble “At least you’re creative”*
F team will send Henry for the challenge.
P: Eyes might be small but our breath is long!
H: Since when are my eyes small?!
P: Your eyes aren’t small is it?
H: Since when are they small? Bigger than yours!

F: Ok Henry you have to take a deep breath now.

Xu: You have to flick the candy now.
*Henry starts blowing*

All: Fighting Henry! Enough enough! Ok already!
The gourd Henry blew looks pretty good.
F: Now both products are out. Should the teacher give them their grades?
H: Teacher is very handsome!
Xu: Thank you.
ZM: Actually mine isn’t lousy I win at creativity
P: Come promote your final product.
ZM: What you see now is a gourd yet it isn’t a gourd because it is a special gourd so compared to most gourds it would be more worthy to be collected.

ZM: And you can imagine it as anything. You can think of it as a heart or a little mouse .. yet if you must think of it as a gourd then it is a gourd…
F: This round we are testing on creativity.. IF this is a gourd then we’ve really seen a ghost.
H: Mine is… oh! *he ruined it* this is a … very beautiful. I don’t know how to explain!!
Xu: Both are not bad!
ZM: But teacher you see this kind too often right?
T: Don’t be afraid of the fan’s scary gazes you can pick one. OK?
Xu: It should be him (Henry) he did better
P: The first round, Candy Blowing Pro is won by F Team.
P: Don’t worry the 2nd round we will see who can finish wrapping the prettiest dumplings in the shortest time.
Today we have invited a Dumpling Wrapping pro who is a Lady Boss located at TaiPei Shi Nan Men Market. Ren Li Hui Wen. In her 30 years of experience of wrapping dumplings, she have invented more than 30 special flavors. From traditional to new fillings… Just look at her customers flocking to her stall and you’d know her skill is unforgettable by others.
Ryeowook came up with Blissful Dumpling. Causing girls’ hearts to melt.
F: Welcome our Teacher HuiWen!
P: She ever made a record of selling over 300000 dumplings during Dragon boat festival.
Out of her 30+ flavors that she has, she brought 5. As they were talking blah blah blah [really its not impt not gonna trans] then
Ryeowook said ” I want to eat!”
P: There is a person on the left who said ” I want to eat!!”

P: Ryeowook you can come and try it. Eh?
F :Kyuhyun
KH: I am hungry too[in taiwanese]
F: And there is one from each team here. Which do you like?
RW: The most delicious one…
Teacher: The most delicious, this is sweet this is salty, this is salty… smelly tofu
KH: The most expensive one?
T: The most expensive…
F: The most expensive is the smell tofu one. Other than smelly tofu what else is in there?
T: Smelly tofu and meat. Pork. This one is the most popular. It is the traditional one. It has the most ingredients.

T: Excuseeeee me we are supposed to have a contest today.

P: Let us all eat first ok?
F: Then you guys can just eat here yourselves then, We will quickly finish filming and end work.
F: What kind of dumpling are we going to wrap?
T: We are going to wrap the traditional Taiwan Dumpling.
Teacher:First you need two leaves. Put them together and fold it at the 2/3 mark and form a cone shape like a triangle hat.
T: But Ryeowook’s look prettier!
Teacher: Next, put in a bit of rice and press it a little.
This is dried radish. Then it would be fragrant.
F: You put so much dried radish you’d die from the saltiness!
SM: SO HUNGRYYY [LOL that is only dried radishhhh!!! put more meat bb!!]
Teacher: Next put in an egg(well i think its salted egg yolk)

After that put more rice on top.

P: His(sungmin) spoon has disappeared… [coz the leaves are supposed to form something like a spoon shape to hold the rice]
Teacher: No problem, just adjust it a little.
P: Your dumpling is too big!
F: He said just now that he is hungry.
Teacher: Cover it up(with the remaining leaf part) Then do this. (fold it over) Not bad.
RW: Not bad?
Teacher: Make it shorter.
RW: Is it ok?
T: Teacher, how did our Ryeowook do?
Teacher: Its ok.
F: Then this…
P: What happened to this lump?
Teacher: It has loosened…
F: Nevermind we shall just use this to cover it up…
P: Now the teacher is going to demonstrate how to tie the string.
SM: O… very difficult!

After Learning how to wrap the Taiwan dumpling, they now have a limit of 3 minutes to see who can wrap more dumplings that meet the teacher’s expectations.
P: Ready? 1,2,3 start! F: Ryeowook is really fast. He just put a lot of rice in.. I’d love to see how he will manage it later T: No problem he took some out already, F: Our Sungmin is steady. P: I feel that wrapping dumplings is a very warm thing. The whole family.. I remember in the past grandma and mom will sit together on the stools and everyone would wrap dumplings and chat at the same time. After that the whole family would eat it together. F: Look at your Ryeowook he put in too much ingredients now he can’t even close it. T: No problem no problem just press down harder. ZM: Fighting Ryeowook! RW: *Faster faster* SM: *cannot lose out!* *Bother went off to tie the dumplings with the string* ZM: quick quick quick! T: Why Ryeowook was so quick was because he was afraid that his dumpling would explode. Quickly used the strong to tie it up. RW: YAY!!! T: Go go go there is more F: Don’t be too happy too early P: Continue to wrap continue to wrap. T: This one by ryeowook.. if you didn’t tell me I’d think that it was by the teacher P: Actually, Ryeowook, you’re very hungry right? *feeds* you can wrap and eat at the same time.. F: There are two on each side, so we need our teacher to come take a look. T: This side is by Ryeowook. Here I will hold it up for you. F: These two belong to Ryeowook. Teacher: It has the look. F: IT DOES?!?!?! He wrapped it like this and yet she says that it looks like it. T: No no its where the uniqueness lie. F: Do you think that both passed or only one passed? Teacher: This one passed. F: One point then. Our Ryeowook has 1 point. what about these two, P: Sungmin only cares about eating now.. He already doesn’t care that the teacher is giving points. Teacher: This is more secure. T: But the thing we want to ask is which one passed. RW: Please!!! Teacher: This one passed. As it wouldn’t drop off. F: This passed?! I finally know the meaning of lying though your teeth. T: Teacher may I know if your glasses has degree? Teacher: Because this one has creativity. The way he tied it, it wouldn’t drop off. F: You can now see who the teacher likes. P: So this means that they are tied … F: 1vs1 Teacher: This one is more to expectation (Ryeowook’s) T: This one is more to expectation.. it is by our Ryeowook! P: To be strict, this wrong is won by Ryeowook means T’s group got 1 point! F: Then I tell you the next round is a fierce competition. P: The next round is really awesome. Next round is very difficult. We are going to challenge Pottery making
From 200 years ago, Ying Ge is the biggest Pottery exporter in taiwan. Today we invited a Hand-pulled cup(direct trans) professional and Taiwan’s only Pottery master who has the skill to use a turning wheel that he has to kick himself, Zhan Guo Xiang.
Having born in a pottery making family, he started learning pottery art since 8. Heard that he completed a 333cm hand-pulled cup in one month and broke his own record.
P: Now Master Zhan Guo Xiang is demonstrating how he kicks the turning wheel. Because the usual turning wheels are electric. He is now using his leg to make it move.
F: When you see this you will think of a classic movie scene. If you can’t remember I can demonstrate.
T: Enough! enough enough!

P:so now we see that both teams have each sent a member to prepare for the contest later to see who can have the tallest cup.

F: We have Kyuhyun!
In 5 minutes we have to see who made the tallest cup.
P: Eunhyuk do you have this pottery experience usually?
EH: In middle school when we were on a grad trip I did it before,
T: hold on hold on Just now I noticed, when you are doing the manual kicking for the turning wheel, I know what side effects it will have. When he stands up he will walk like this =.= Are you legs ok?

F: So we are still going by whose is the tallest. Is yours set?
T: Set.
F: If we were to turn the wheel would it fall off?
T: NOT POSSIBLE!

T: It wouldn’t fall of it wouldn’t fall you.. you just look.

Woof Woof! Hi everyone, I am OK! You can also call me “O[little]K” o~!
I am the little reporter for this issue of PLAY. You must be thinking that its strange why it is me who is writing. Woof woof~ Because the editor said that they are shooting SJM hyungs on that day and I am the closest to the hyungs and that they like me the most. All the love had been given to OK so I will be doing this special article! Woof woof!
Last month, SJM Hyungs have the image of Prince Charming. This issue will emphasize on fashionable simplicity with no-frills accessories to show how natural, laid back and healthy SJM hyungs are. They are now in the dressing room preparing. Actually the staff were supposed to take me out so that I wouldn’t disturb them when they were changing but Zhoumi Hyung who was hugging me tightly stopped them “OK needn’t go out, stay here to accompany Hyung” next, Sungmin Hyung patted my head and told the staff “OK is so well behaved… he needn’t go out!” After that, Eunhyuk Hyung who had just done changing snatched OK from Zhoumi Hyung and said “My turn to carry OK!” Kyuhyun Hyung said “Em… we will take turns to take care of OK! He is so well behaved..” Henry Hyung said “After I am done I want to take selcas with OK!”
So… can OK tell everyone a secret? That is all the SJM Hyung’s have very good bodies! Also, OK looked at them very very close up. Hyungs are all very handsome! Being so looked after by them, Ok who is usually extroverted be came a little shy…
The 2nd set of clothes would be shot in 3 sets. The first would be individual shots, 2nd would be in groups of 3 and the last would be a group photo. So only during the times when they are having individual or 3-person shots can they take turns to carry me and accept my interviews. So next up, reporter OK will start introducing o~ Woof Woof!

Some would say that wearing striped shirts would make your body appear wider. But this isn’t true for Kyuhyun. His long and lean body brings out the uniqueness of the clothes, adding points to the clothes. They compliment each other. No wonder Kyuhyun is the best model.
OK’s secret
Kyuhyun Hyung is very serious! When shooting, he would always be discussing with the photographer about how he can have the best photos. Heard from the staff, Kyuhyun had a little accident in korea some time ago and had some scratches on his body. Looking at him putting in so much effort to make various poses, OK is worried that overly big actions might cause his wounds to hurt! OK will hurriedly give concern to Kyuhyun Hyung. If it hurts, would quickly apply medicine! But Kyuhyun Hyung said “No problem! It doesn’t hurt at all…it is more important to help PLAY get the best photos!” Also, Kyuhyun Hyung took out his own phone to take some selcas. He said that he wants to take down different styles for future reference.

Blue! Becuase the feeling I want to bring to others is one that is open like the sky. Friends with me would feel comfortable and have very natural smiles!

Cold Bean curd! Please help me contain it in a huge bowl thank you! Also, any other topping will be accepted. (Favorites are peanuts,potato balls, yam balls,glutinous rice balls, etcetc)!
PS: Kyuhyun hyung, you want so many toppings, I doubt the bowl can contain all of them. I will help you prepare a huge basin ok? But you have to share a mouthful with OK!
Colourful and Vibrant

Boys are able to pull off bright green clothes. After looking at Zhoumi’s example, even felt like taking it back home to try. But I believe that only he can pull it off! Knitted sweater on his bony body brings out Zhoumi’s gentle side.
OK’s Secret
Zhoumi Hyung is really cute! As OK have been in the studio for a long time, during the individual shoots, the staff noona took OK outside for a rest. After thanking the photographer at the end of his shoot, his first sentence was “Where is OK? Why is he gone?!” The staff immediately replied that OK had went out for a walk and would return later. Zhoumi Hyung immediately hugged me tightly and said “OK I thought you left… You little baby you might as well go home with me!” Then the other SJM Hyungs started saying “YES!” Really aiyaya! PS: Zhoumi Hyung’s dog is name Ni Qui. If there is a chance he would introduce NiQiu to me!

Colour! I believe that in life you gotta have different colours for it to be meaningful and vibrant. There is sadness, happiness, anger… the feeling I hope to bring to everyone is a Zhoumi that is colourful and not only a one-coloured Zhoumi.

I want to eat beancurd and braised meat! You must allow me to pick two please! Blame the taiwan snacks to be so delicious even if work is really tiring ad long as there is taiwan snacks my energy would go up again!
PS: Zhoumi Hyung… OK promise that you can pick two because you are too skinny. So specially allowed you to eat two kinds of food so that you can grow fat! But please do not tell the other SJM Hyungs! Or they’d say that I am biased!
Vibrant Purple
Sungmin
Good looking Sungmin looks good in anything so we daringly let him try on a purple series that many boys shun. On him, the purple clothes seem vibrant and it also captures his romantic manly side. Sungmin is like a purple crystal clear and mesmerizing.
OK Secret
Sungmin hyung is very quiet off camera. When he is resting he would sit obediently in a corner to watch everyone. As he said that he likes cats, OK thought that he wouldn’t like me, so in the beginning I wasn’t carried by him. But in fact, I was wrong, he is just shy! After seeing that Sungmin kept looking at OK, a staff asked “Sungmin, you want to carry OK?” he replied in glee “Can I? I really want to!” After that Sungmin Hyung happily took me to the corner in his arms and even said many things to me and got me to say things too but those are secrets! I promised him I wouldn’t say them! Also, his mandarin is very cute!

Eunhyuk’s Gaze is extremely electrifying. Smart casual denim Jacket with geometric print pants allows the cheerful Eunhyuk to also gives a sense of mystery. Eunhyuk is also the member who can present the essence of the style the best.

Eunhyuk Hyung is really gentle with OK. Everytime he carries OK he would be afraid to hurt me and would carefully love me. Actually OK is already grown up, and is not afraid of pain! Kimchi Bokkeumbab! Because I ate this korean homecooked food in Taiwan before and realized that the taste is like that of those in korea. I deeply feel that this is a good place. Taiwan has various delicious food. It makes me feel at home.
PS: Right. Eunhyuk Hyung is trying to day that the uniqueness of Taiwan food is that it is so varied yet authentic. You can also get many different international flavours!
Black Ensemble
Henry
Henry is handsome yet playful. You would tend to forget what he is wearing as you would be totally attracted by his expressions. Behind the cool looks is a sweet smile and slight sadness and different expressions. Just like playing a game of hide and seek, he is able to wake up the muted black
Ok’s Secret
Henry is the first to spot OK in the studio. He immediately ran over to carry OK and even introduced OK to his Little Henry o![sorry i LOLED so hard here] Woof woof! Henry Hyung’s character is very cheerful so his SJM Hyungs love to play around with him so he is never bored. Towards the end of the shooting Henry Hyung told the stuff that he is very happy during this shoot and is very pleased with his own performance, so he hopes to do it again. “Remember you have to arrange for me and OK to take photos together!” But if OK takes a photo with you, what about the other Hyungs? They have all made appointments with OK as well. By then, the other Hyungs would be pouting!
Eunhyuk Hyung…OK wants to ask you a question! If you were to use a colour to represent yourself, what colour do you think you are? All the bright colours like red, blue, green, yellow and white etc. Because my character is always positive and cheerful. This feeling… when everyone sees me in person you’d know! ried! Dumplings! This little thing is extremely delicious. Even til now I still cannot explain how taiwan can invent such affordable and delicious food. Be it cabbage, *some other veggie*
or meat flavour, they are all delicious.
PS:OK understands! Because everytime *someone* gets hungry he would buy one of those to feed his growling tummy!

There are so many styles but when its on Ryeowook you don’t have to worry as Ryeowook is an artist whose image is very flexible.He suits many styles! This time the image that he presents is confidence. To enable any type of clothing to become many stylists’ treasure. [LOL whatever i dunno what I am writing even… -.-]
OK’s Secret
Ryeowook Hyung is also very quiet but OK feels that he is in deep thought if not, he would be making use of the time to learn mandarin. Everytime he hears the staff use mandarin to communicate, he would be at the side repeating it then after that ask about the meaning. He says “When learning mandarin the most important thing is to actually have more contact with it then utilize it.” Although the pronunciation might not be accurate in the beginning but with more practice it would get better. Ryeowook Hyung is very hardworking other than listening, he would flip though taiwanese news and magazines. Because this is general knowledge.If there are parts which he doesn’t know, he would ask. Ryeowook Hyung read together with OK! But OK doesn’t understand… I only know how to Woof woof!

I hope that I am purple. Because it is my favorite colour! Dark purple is mysterious with a hint of melancholy. Light purple is romantic. Very similar to my personality.

Stirfried diced chicken with dried red pepper! I love this dish to death! If there is a chance I want to open a restaurant that sells this dish! Will there be a chance to eat it later? Please you have to help me order an extra serving. it is FOR me alone. It goes really well with rice!
PS: Haha ryeowook Hyung’s demure image is broken! When speaking of that dish his eyes would light up! Just like OK, when he sees delicious food, his tail will wag very happily.

Good looking Sungmin looks good in anything so we daringly let him try on a purple series that many boys shun. On him, the purple clothes seem vibrant and it also captures his romantic manly side. Sungmin is like a purple crystal clear and mesmerizing.
OK(the dog)’s Secret
Sungmin hyung is very quiet off camera. When he is resting he would sit obediently in a corner to watch everyone. As he said that he likes cats, OK thought that he wouldn’t like me, so in the beginning I wasn’t carried by him. But in fact, I was wrong, he is just shy! After seeing that Sungmin kept looking at OK, a staff asked “Sungmin, you want to carry OK?” he replied in glee “Can I? I really want to!” After that Sungmin Hyung happily took me to the corner in his arms and even said many things to me and got me to say things too but those are secrets! I promised him I wouldn’t say them! Also, his mandarin is very cute!

Long Stay- Experiencing Life in Taiwan
Super Junior M are in Taiwan for 2 months of Long Stay and they have finally taken some time out to accept our interview. On the day of the interview, Siwon and Donghae are absent due to their filming schedules for “Skip Beat” but the other 6 members completed the interview professionally. [WTF are you talking about.. BUT OF COURSE]
Q what are your thoughts about the Long Stay?
RW: Taiwan is really fun. We can be really close to the fans, its pretty good.
SM: Taiwanese are really warm.
ZM: Taiwan is a place that is interesting 24/7, in the afternoon you can go to Xi Men Ding, East side, at night, you can go to the night markets.
KH: I seldom go out in my private time but I went to many places of interest when filming so I too felt the charm of Taiwan.
EH: When I haven’t come here, I did feel a little worried, after coming to Taiwan, I felt comfortable living here. If I were to live here again in the future, I would be ok with it.
H: To be able to eat the food that I like, I am extremely happy.
Q: The members have been to the Prawn farm, night markets, any where else?
KH: Ryeowook went to Dan Jiang High School where they filmed Secret. If I have a Taiwanese girlfriend, we can go there together.
*After hearing KH say that EH said: I really wish to go to the fans’ houses.
They explained that they hope to meet Taiwanese friends, so that they can see how they live.
Henry: Because my Mom is from PinTung, hope to bring the members to PinTung so that they can experience the beauty of Southern Taiwan.
RW: Heard that the Zoo in Taipei is huge, I really want to go see.
Q: When you sing Perfection, it sounds like Taiwan Girl, Is this a gift to Taiwanese fans?
ZM: This is a song for fans, it does sound like “Taiwan Girl”. All the fans are the most perfect in our hearts. [Thank you ZM at least you didn’t play favorites…]
Q: In the beginning of April the Taiwanese fans bought an ad to congratulate SJM for their 3rd Anniversary. Did the members get to see it?
RW: On the 8th April, we were all in korea but we saw the video online. Felt very touched.
Q: No matter where the members went, the fans would follow, do you feel inconvenienced?
EH: Very thankful that the fans kept accompanying us be it schedules or outdoor recordings, realised that even though its very late, the fans would still be waiting, and actually I feel very worried for their safety.
Q: Everyone’s mandarin seemed to have improved. Other than ZM and Henry, whose mandarin is the best?
EH: Their mandarin is the worst. Actually my mandarin is really good. But I just didn’t want to show off.
H: Ryeowook & Kyuhyun’s mandarin have improved a lot.
ZM: *earnestly* In the past, KH was the best, but now it is Ryeowook wh is the best, KH ranks 2nd, Sungmin and Eunhyuk are tied at 3.
Q: Living together in Taiwan, who has the worst habits? On the other hand, who follows the rules best?
RW: *loudly* DON’T HAVE!
ZM: The company employed ajummas to help so there isn’t any of such problems.
SM said that he is the most disciplined. Ryeowook agreed.
RW: Sungmin would wake up really early and help everyone wash the laundry [HOMGGGGGGG] and dishes.
ZM: Ryeowook really likes cleanliness and would often help do the laundry.
Q: Of all the members who takes care of everyone else the most?
Kyuhyun didn’t wait for the translation and immediately said “I enabled everyone to be able to go online in the dorm”
H: Kyuhyun turned the dorm into his own internet cafe.
Q: Who is the one who needs others to take care of him the most?
The members all said ” DONGHAE”
Everyone said that Donghae is like a kid, really needs others’ care and concern.
